Did you think it’s only pilots that may perform non-standard approaches? Think again! Whilst “non-standard approach” in aviation refers to manoeuvring outside the published guidelines, in this project, Yuri Goloubev – one of Europe’s foremost jazz double bassists and composers, as well as an aviation enthusiast —approaches jazz standards in a totally unconventional manner.
His project, Non-Standard Approach, brilliantly translates this aeronautical concept into music, channelling the essence of Goloubev’s out of the box approach into his refined arrangements and creative reinterpretations of great 20th-century jazz standards.
